Downtown, from the far side of Church Street

This is a picture of all the business buildings on Church Street, taken from the far end.

And here's the view down the sidewalks of those buildings (on the left of the picture above).

An interesting entryway

This first view is from the outside sidewalk, right by the street.

Now when I take two steps in, you see the stairs on the left.

Going ahead down the stairs, and now you see some plants... parts of this corridor which are still directly outside.

And just past those plants to the left side is the following view, finally with some technology... which almost seems out of place.

Walkways around Christiansted

Here are some of the walkways in the buildings on my way to work.  There's obviously a lot of history in these stones.

Flying in a small plane

So this is what it's like to fly in a very small plane.  There was the pilot (and the person sitting next to him who was a passenger), then a row, then my row, then the back row... a total of eight seats.  Here's the view from my seat.

This is a picture over the wing just as we were leaving the ground.

I found this very interesting: the images of the props from my phone.  (You can see a hint of them in the previous picture.)

Here are a couple of picture of the clouds over the ocean as we fly.  They're fantastic.

It was kinda fun to see from this perspective as we approached Puerto Rico!

It's pretty cool to see what the pilot sees as we land.

And here is the moment when we landed.

Oh, and when you're on a small plane, you get the baggage delivery right there, by hand.

I'll end with one more image of a sea of clouds, from the return trip on a plane just like the first.

Some random island life

These pictures are from a rather eventful day, but I don't have a common theme for them.

This is a shot of our house from a boat (when I went with the boys and another dad and his boys to Buck Island).

This is an interesting area: the entrance to Altuna Lagoon, which is apparently a nice, safe, not-so-sandy spot for kids to splash around.

And this is another view of the same thing (a little to the right of the picture above); the bridge to the left is connected to the ocean.

It's not uncommon to see horses... just wandering around... though this is the first time seeing a colt... "so cute" (Lynnette's words).

Just pics of the kids

These are mostly candid pics of the kids, in case you've missed them.

Ella, with her mud-mask from the Relief Society's spa night.

Tolman that same night, in his element where the young men play basketball.  (No, he didn't have any help climbing up.)

Thomas, from earlier that day when he got a letter from McKay Stacey.

Another beautiful morning

Every place has days where the mornings are gorgeous.  St Croix just has them more often.

Point Udall

Point Udall is the eastern-most point in the United States, so on this morning we were the first ones in the US to see the sun come up.  There's a monument there, built in 2000 and shaped like huge intersecting "M"s and with a pole in the middle to act like a sundial, with lines on the ground that show true north, the equinox, etc.

Belize: the office locations

So these pictures show a bit more of Belize's character.

Here we are in the middle of downtown from the top of the office, where you see some very contrasting sights.

That's the city.  Here is the view from the entrance of our data center in the country, which makes up the majority of the land.  It's rather beautiful out there... as opposed to where the people hang out.

Belize: The oldest church in Central America

St John's Cathedral, the oldest church in Central America, is just a couple blocks from the company office.
