We went to crab races last night: we get to name them and cheer them on as they cross the outer circle.
Thomas named two of ours after his friends McKay and Mason:
Then they put them in buckets, turned them over, and released the crabs!
(That's Ella's finger, to prove that we were there.)
They raced multiple heats, but our crabs never won. But Thomas did win a miniature golf certificate afterward, and an Angry Bird coloring book for Ella.

We once lost a hermit crab in our basement. A few days later, it scared one of our daughters as she saw it crawling across another room in the basement. We were grateful to not have stepped on it unknowingly. Lots of hermit crabs there as pets, it seems?
ReplyDeleteMost of those were supplied by the organizers and I suspect they do keep a bunch of them since they do this event weekly. Some people did bring their own. We could have, since we see a bunch of them scurry through the grass every time we walk through our backyard... so I told Thomas that he can have them all as pets and we'll just keep them outside.
Deleteis this instead of the pine wood durby??! hahaha
